Hi, I’m Sam Truloff. Once upon a time, after an unsuccessful final for my social soccer team (getting a red card in the final minutes didn’t go down so well), I became mates with Tok by chatting about comic books for hours–-big mistake. Hours of nerding out later, Tok showed me the manga he had been working on and invited me to join the project. As someone with a deep love for expansive worlds and storytelling, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity. What started as helping out soon grew into something far greater: a novel saga. I’ve always dreamed of creating my own world or story—I even have books filled with notes and doodles from my earlier attempts. Working with Tok gave me the solid foundation to finally turn that dream into a reality, and together, we’ve built something we’re truly proud of. My Creative Inspirations Growing up with limited access to movies and TV, I was practically raised by books. Novels and comics fueled my imagination, especially those in the fantasy genre. Some of my all-time favorites include Eragon (The Inheritance Cycle), Geoff Johns’ Green Lantern run, The Stormlight Archive, and Berserk. I’m drawn to stories with vast worlds, intricate plots, compelling characters, strong morals, and breathtaking spectacles. This love for storytelling has also inspired a fondness for idioms and sayings, which often sneak their way into our books (much to Tok’s annoyance). Beyond print, I’ve developed a love for movies and TV shows with a similar flair. Favorites like Avatar, Knives Out, Altered Carbon, and Arcane have left their mark on my creative process, inspiring characters, themes, and elements within our story. In addition to media, my fascination with ancient history, engineering, and the natural world has influenced many aspects of our work. If you look closely, you’ll find bits of these woven into the story as it unfolds (Also, let me just say—writing this bio was significantly harder than writing the book itself.) Thank you for stopping by–I hope you enjoy exploring our work as much as we’ve enjoyed creating it! Find out more at https://godsendsaga.com/
