My name is Tok, and in the year 2017, I started scribbling down a few character designs, while in my last year of high school unaware of just what it would turn into. (The first character that I ever drew was Aleister End by the way). Those drawings turned into lore, and then a cohesive story which just grew and grew over the coming years, until I just had to get it down onto paper. Along the way, I met my good friend Sam through playing football together, and lo and behold, he was just as much of a nerd as I. I pitched the story to him, and thankfully he was just mad enough to agree to help me pursue this project, and realise its potential. Soon book one was written, and it was time to elevate it all with this very website, and some art to accompany the story. We were gifted extremely talented artists in Andrew, Jason, and Fiona who have worked their magic into this project and helped turn it into what it is today. My Creative Inspirations In creating the world of the Godsend Saga, I took inspiration from various sources when it came to writing the lore, and also designing the art to accompany it. Mixed martial arts, puroresu, football, and tennis definitely inspired Wargames, especially in constructing the fight sequences and the spectacle of it all. I’m a big music fan too, across many genres, which can be seen through the songs that Gladiators use as their theme songs. This was an inclusion that I was very excited for as it presents you guys an extra layer of investments into who the characters are. It doesn’t stop there though, my love of anime and manga growing up definitely played a huge role in the story creation. Berserk, Naruto, Bleach, Akira, and Tokyo Revengers particularly had influence in characters and story elements. But not just animated media, I’m a massive movie buff (tok_713 on letterboxd) and certain elements from a range of movies definitely helped inspire my side of the story creation. As the saga unfolds, I’m sure you’ll find many more elements of life that I took inspiration, from politics, to religion, to ancient philosophy. But most importantly I wanted to create a story that could provide entertainment, or even an escape from this crazy world. If a single person tells me someday that the story we’ve written has helped, or entertained them in some way, then I see it as a success, far beyond any other measure.
